General News   12-10-2006 16:38 by Dave

Hello and welcome to 242 Squadron's little corner of the internet!

The website is a little quiet at the moment, but rest assured our forums are awash with activity. Click the 242 Forum link in the menu above and come say hello.

Right now we're taking part in a couple of Scorched Earth campaigns.

Over a period of months we're planning to update the website and show a little more about who and what we are. Don't hang around here waiting for it though; click on that forum link and find out now.

  • Battle of Britain Air Show - Sunday 11 September

General News   25-09-2005 17:09 by Dave

Ladies and gentlemen, those of you who were here on Sunday 11 September won't need to be told how unkind the weather was to us. We were grateful that you stuck with us in the hope that conditions may have improved. Unfortunately they did not improve sufficiently for us to put on a full display and we are truly sorry that due to circumstances beyond our control we could not stage the show we had planned. We appreciate your tenacity and perseverance.

As a gesture of goodwill the Museum would like to offer those of you who paid to be there on Sunday 11 September a discount voucher for the next Duxford air show on Sunday 16 October. To apply for this voucher just send your ticket for 11 September back to the Museum with your name and address and we will post the discount voucher to you. Simply address it to September Air Show, IWM Duxford Cambridge CB2 4QR.

  • The Patch

General News   22-08-2005 18:46 by Prof

The latest status on the patch from crazyivan1970 on the Ubi Forums is :

The latest is...they are currently working on BOB and some working on addon... or patch... not sure what to call it

Patience folks, it`s all coming along.

    V!
    Regards,

And in keeping with that fine old Maddox tradition of only including the most bizarre aircraft and ignoring the common ordinary types, they are nearly finished work on the Me. 155 .............. the what !!! ..... I kid you not .....

What we see is the Me-155A, intended to replace Bf-109T as a carrier fighter for non-existing carrier fleet (Graf Zeppelin never went into service). RLM decided to build it in summer 1942, it was being perfected until 1943, when the project was cancelled. The plane was basically G-2 with new wings and carrier equippment. It was powered by the DB-605A. The Pictures are from the Russian 1C FTP site, strange or what. This is delaying the Ju-88 and Mosquito ???

  • European Air Warfare

General News   12-08-2005 11:58 by Prof

As quite of few of our members use to own and fly European Air War, I thought they would be interested in this recent development. A group of EAW enthusiasts has approached Atari Interactive, Inc., the current owner of the rights to EAW, for permission to use and modify the original source code and to contact the original developers who still work for Atari.

from SimHQ, letter to the EAW Enthusiast group
    Dear Nathan:

As a follow-up to our conversation and your August 10, 2005 email, I am writing on behalf of Atari Interactive, Inc. ("Atari Interactive") to confirm that Atari Interactive has no objection to your engaging in open dicussions with a group of individuals, to include Chris Coons, John Parquin, Will Gee and Nathan Medford, with respect to your development of the old source code related to the "European Air War" software game title.

I would like to thank you for your interest and passion for this game, and wish you the best for your forum and discussions.

Obviously, we are all acting in good faith and, as you know, Atari has to protect its rights.

So it is also understood that no such discussion shall pertain to, be directed at, or be in furtherance of any activity that seeks to, does or will exploit such code or game for any commercial or profitable purpose, that diminishes or dilutes the good will in or to such game and/or its trademark, or that otherwise disparages or casts a negative light on Atari Interactive, any of its affiliates, or their respective intellectual property rights or business activities.

Therefore, Atari Interactive reserves the right to revoke this consent via notice to you at any time if it believes that the above-referenced discussions are or become inconsistent with the foregoing conditions.

I am available for any further information.

    Sincerely yours,

    AND ENJOY EUROPEAN AIR WAR

    Frederic Chesnais

    Chief Executive Officer
    Atari Interactive, Inc.

There is no word yet as to what they plan to modify or improve or when the first release would be.
